The next Labo kit is a VR headset launching in April

So far the Labo toys have been a rewarding - if time consuming - investment, and it will be interesting to see if the trend continues next month.

A brand-new Nintendo Labo kit has been announced by Nintendo, bringing VR experiences to the Nintendo Switch; say "hello" to Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit! Rather, the latest addition to its line of Labo cardboard accessories will be a VR kit that you can use to morph your Switch and Joy-Con controllers into a makeshift headset.

Not wishing to make people double dip, owners of the starter kit can pick up two expansion sets for $19.99 each.

The new Toy-Con is available in two configurations: the complete VR Kit set includes the Switch software and materials to build all six Labo VR projects-VR Goggles, Blaster, Camera, Bird, Wind Pedal, and Elephant. The first includes a Toy-Con Elephant and Toy-Con Camera, while the second has a Toy-Con Wind Pedal and Toy-Con Bird.

Nintendo claims that by eliminating the head strap of most VR wearables and opting for devices that players hold up to their faces, it will make for a more social experience.

Slated for release April 12, Nintendo will offer two packages and two expansion packs for its Labo: VR kits. "We wanted to design an experience that encourages both virtual and real-world interactions among players through passing around Toy-Con creations". It offers basic programming tools for you to play around with when making creations. If the majority of these kits will seem a little too heavy on your wallet initially, there's also a starter kit that only comes bundled with the VR goggles and blaster. One includes all Toy-Con creations and the other is a smaller, introductory kit.
