Man Accused Of Fatally Shooting Nipsey Hussle Charged With Murder

Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James made a vow to hip-hop star Nipsey Hussle, who passed away earlier this week due to a violent shooting. The Associated Press reports that 29-year-old Eric Holder has now been charged with one count of murder, and two counts of attempted murder by Los Angeles County prosecutors.

If convicted on the murder charge, Holder faces up to life in state prison.

It was Sunday afternoon - hours before hundreds of mourners would descend on South Los Angeles to remember a man known as much for his boastful music as for his humble contributions to his community.

Holder has been ordered to return to court on May 10.

During the hearing, Darden argued against allowing media outlets in the courtroom to record the proceeding but the judge allowed access. The attempted murder charges are for the alleged shootings of the two other victims, Kerry Lathan and Shermi Cervabta Villanueva.

Holder was arrested on Wednesday in Bellflower by L.A. County sheriff's deputies and turned over to the LAPD.

By now it should go without saying that Nipsey Hussle was one of the most beloved hip-hop artists across the globe, as even though he was defined by Los Angeles culture he was truly respected from coast-to-coast. The Victory Lap rapper owns the clothing store as well as other businesses in the community. Two men were also injured in the shooting outside Marathon Clothing at Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue. Police do not think Hussle's death was gang-related.
