Cherono narrowly edged ahead to add victory in Boston to his 2:04:06 PB and course record victory at the Amsterdam Marathon in October, as Desisa was denied a third Boston win to go with his titles from 2013 and 2015. The Boston Marathon has been an American tradition for more than a century and we take pride in the passion and determination that participants, spectators, and volunteers from around the world display at our annual event.

Johnson left the starting line amid a wave of runners at 10:25 a.m. ET and crossed the finish line at 1:34 p.m. ET on Monday afternoon. Just completing the 26.2-mile Boston Marathon is quite an accomplishment.
