Model and LGBT rights advocate Tales Soares dies after catwalk fall

"We deeply regret the death of Tales, and once again we extend our condolences to the family".

Model Tales Soares lies on the catwalk as a paramedic tends to him after he collapsed during Sao Paulo Fashion Week in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in April 27, 2019.

Twenty-six year-old Tales Soares, known artistically as Tales Cotta, was walking the runway Saturday when he suddenly stumbled and fell as he was about to exit. Local media have reported that he tripped on a strap from one of the sandals he was wearing.

Soares was then transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to the paper, people in the crowd initially thought his fall was part of a performance.

MGT Base Agency - who Tales worked for - said that Mr Soares had never "presented or complained about health problems".

Another distressing clip - which Daily Star Online has chosen not to reveal - shows Tales falling face-first on the ground after staggering down the catwalk.

"With this news, the organisation met with the brands, directors of parades, stylists and models that had parades in the programming, and was given the option to cancel them", organisers said in a statement. "He was not a newcomer, he has already paraded in other editions of both SPFW and other important fashion events", they said in a statement. "And we ask for respect at this moment of deep sadness".

Terra goes on to say that concerns had been raised about the availability of vegetarian food at the event, meaning he may have gone a long time without eating.
