Nine-man Spurs lose late on at Bournemouth

Bournemouth looked as though they would be frustrated by a resolute Tottenham defence, but Ake powered in a header from Ryan Fraser's corner to land another blow to Pochettino's men.

Bournemouth struggled to make their numerical advantage count until Nathan Ake climbed highest to meet a corner and head a dramatic victor in the 90th minute.

Son was dismissed just before the break for pushing Jefferson Lerma to the ground, while half-time replacement Foyth received a red card only two minutes and 13 seconds after the restart for an ugly lunge on Jack Simpson.

Tottenham still have work to do in the race to finish in the Premier League's top four after their nine men lost 1-0 late on at Bournemouth on Saturday.

With the win the Cherries moved up to 12th in the table on 45 points, while Spurs are now only four points ahead of Arsenal in fifth with one game to go, as the Gunners have a game in hand on them too.

While it has been a positive campaign for Spurs overall, to come out of it without any silverware, and keep their barren run going, will be a kick in the teeth for their fans and take away a little bit of the positivity.

Travers had an excellent first-half, denying Dele Ali spectacularly, as well as making two great saves from two Lucas Moura efforts.

Lucas Moura almost gave teenage goalkeeper Travers a Premier League debut to forget, but his shot from the halfway line flew just wide, while the Brazilian also headed over.

And minutes later he nearly gave away a penalty when he kicked Callum Wilson in the back of the leg but again Pawson said no. "Huge potential, we think this is an ideal game for him to show what he is capable of".

And Spurs were made to pay for not scoring the opener as they were reduced to 10 men just before the half time whistle.

It was a moment of madness and his red card was deserved.
