Trump Says Putin Not ‘Involved’ in Venezuela, Despite U.S. Claim

Trump later tweeted that he and Putin "had a long and very good conversation" in which the "Russia hoax" was discussed in addition to North Korea, Ukraine, China, trade and nuclear weapons treaties.

President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin arrive for a meeting in Helsinki, July 16, 2018. He said they had discussed the possibility of including China in the deal and that China would "very much would like to be a part of" it.

In his investigation, Mueller spotlighted Russian interference, indicting 12 Russian military intelligence officers past year and indicating newly discovered ways that Russia meddled in the 2016 election in his final report.

"We didn't discuss that", he said.

"We have worked diligently to protect America's election system, something I wish the previous administration had done more effectively", he said.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump had already warned Putin about election interference.

Meanwhile, she also said that Trump and Putin also "spoke about North Korea for a good bit of time", where he stressed the importance of denuclearization.

Putin seemed amused, said Trump. Whether you're a Trump supporter or not, one would hope that the President of the United States would stand up to attacks on U.S. democracy.

A Kremlin readout of the call said the discussions centered on "the current state and prospects of bilateral relations with a focus on economic cooperation".

In two tweets, Trump said that he and Putin had a "very productive talk". Trump joined the Russian leader at a news conference in Helsinki last summer in publicly challenging the US intelligence community's conclusion that the Kremlin directed the interference campaign, drawing condemnation from American lawmakers in both parties. "He doesn't need to do that every two seconds", Sanders said.

US-Russian tensions have spiked over the months-long stand off in Venezuela, and the Kremlin's assessment of the Trump-Putin call differed substantially from that coming from the White House. Russian Federation has sent at least a planeload full of these little green men that we've seen in eastern Ukraine and they are destabilizing the situation there.

Despite constant scandal-mongering from the liberal press, the Mueller report found that there was no collusion between Trump and the Russian government.

"Had a long and very good conversation with President Putin of Russian Federation".

Regarding North Korea, Trump's focus was on "the importance of Russian Federation stepping up and continuing to help and put pressure on North Korea to denuclearise", Sanders said.

Russia's take on Venezuela was that the South American nation has "the right to determine the future of their country" without outside interference, its embassy said.
