Bernie Sanders Pledges To Erase $1.5 Trillion In Student Debt

Ten candidates each will meet in back-to-back debates on Wednesday and Thursday nights in Miami, Florida.

The candidates in SC offered remarks at a fish fry hosted by US House Majority Whip James Clyburn on Friday night, battling bugs and the sticky summer heat to shake hands with voters.

Biden's op-ed lays out the larger points in the former vice president's immigration plans, it does not speak to the specifics of he proposes to do so. Even before Biden got in the race, Democratic strategists anxious about his lack of discipline, his need to rely on big donors and his stamina.

No longer lower than they didn't favor to argue over who got the center seat.

Biden this weekend was attempting to move past two controversies that have dogged his campaign in recent days.

"Joe Biden's past statements and positions on race issues present a serious challenge to his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination according to our polling", Club for Growth President David McIntosh said in a statement to Reuters. CBS News' Ed O'Keefe asked Harris, a California senator, over the weekend in SC.

But Biden also reversed himself on the issue in the space of a day after coming under huge pressure earlier this month from groups such as Planned Parenthood and a broader array of liberal activists who believe Democrats must not accept what they see as old compromises at a moment an emboldened right is seeking to outlaw abortion.

But Biden can't afford these kinds of miscues, and it wasn't the first this cycle.

"I got into politics because there are too many communities who are being left out and left behind", said New Jersey Senator Cory Booker.

But the biggest issue with Sanders' plan may very well be that it makes Warren's tamer, but still wildly expensive plan-it costs a mere $1 trillion, instead of $2 trillion-seem acceptable and moderate by comparison. Biden, in turn, didn't mention them either. She drove across the state to see Booker before "Elizabeth Warren came to town and blew me away".

In the first debate, Warren is the star to watch.

Being onstage that first night has its pros and cons for Warren.

Warren's plan, which she plans to introduce as legislation alongside Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., would be paid for by imposing a 2% fee on fortunes greater than $50 million.

Biden, who launched his 2020 campaign in April, calls for streamlining the asylum system for migrants and spending more on electronic security at U.S. borders rather than Trump's proposed U.S. -Mexico border wall. And right now, each candidate is trying to figure out how to use his or her precious few minutes of speaking time to stand out in the crowd. Kamala Harris, D-Calif. Harris, as well as Sen.

The victor here could benefit from strong black support throughout the campaign. She made her mark as a national figure a year ago while grilling Brett Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court confirmation hearings. Listen to people, answering their questions. Buttigieg had canceled his Friday plans in SC to remain at home after a South Bend police officer shot and killed black man last weekend. Now he has an opportunity to take his vision of generational change to his widest audience yet.

Where are the Democratic debates airing?

SC has eight historically black colleges and universities (HBCU), and Harris attended another, Howard University, in Washington.

How much then are his policies the focus of moderators and candidates versus these candidates' policies?

Who will take on Trump in 2020?

The President himself will not be involved in the biggest political showdown yet in 2019, although he hinted he'll be watching and could weigh in via Twitter. It's tricky for many of them - both those with dovish tendencies and those more from the "realist" camp.

"The American people bailed out Wall Street", he said as he outlined the plan on Capitol Hill.
