Florida Woman Arrested, Accused Of Killing Her Daughter & Stepfather

The ex wife of a man now behind bars accused of trying to run her down has been charged after allegedly stealing his guns.

The woman was arrested on burglary charges.

Anna Eskamani, D-Orlando, sends letter to State Attorney Brian Haas requesting charges not be pursued against Lakeland woman for taking and turning in weapons to police that belonged to estranged husband.

Orr said the State Attorney's Office typically decides on whether to prosecute a case within 20 days after an arrest.

"Yes, I am but he wasn't going to turn them in so I am doing it", the officer said she responded.

Lucie police say Alyssa Marie Torres shot and killed Felix Rivera, 54, and her young daughter at the Waterleaf Townhomes Apartments.

"So, you are telling me you committed an armed burglary", the arresting officer reportedly replied, WMKG reported. "When officers contacted the husband, who was still in the Polk County Jail, he insisted they press charges". On June 14, the two were involved in a "verbal altercation" after a courthouse hearing for their pending divorce, according to Joseph Irby's arrest affidavit.

"She made this decision after her husband. was taken to jail after running her off the road and hitting her vehicle, while she was driving, with his auto", Eskamani, D-Orlando, writes to Haas, who represents Florida's 10th Judicial Circuit.

Behrens asked if Irby had been given permission to enter the apartment, and she said no. Many critical comments have been left on the Lakeland Police Department's Facebook page.

"Courtney Irby's arrest is a disgrace", tweeted Andrew Warren, a State Attorney in nearby Hillsborough County.

Both Courtney and Joseph have since bonded out of the Polk County Jail.

Police said announced that she was taken into custody around 10:30 a.m., in the 7300 block of Indian River Drive in Fort Pierce.

"We have to prioritize cases of domestic violence, knowing that if we don't, people could die", she said.

'These loopholes are major contributors to the deadly relationship between domestic violence and firearms, ' Eskamani said.

Port St. Lucie police spokeswoman Lisa Carrasquillo said a motive hasn't been determined.

Sabin said she learned that she and Irby have mutual friends.

Joseph Irby's charges involve an altercation that began with a shouting match after the divorce hearing. She was actively protecting herself and her family from an estranged husband who had not turned over his firearms to law enforcement, and was arrested for it.
